Deut. 28 Torah Study 08/28/2021

Deut. 28:1-14 Blessings

  1. This starts off by saying “if you faithfully obey Yahweh your God and are careful to follow all of His commands”.
  • The KJV says “Diligently” which is the Heb. word Shema, but when translated it shows Shema twice “If you Shema Shema”.
  • So, Shema means to not only hear, but also to obey, this way of saying it would be to Hear and obey continuely.
  • Look at Gen. 2:17, in this verse what you do not see is the second die, it say in the translation you will surely die die meaning you will continue to die.
  • The emphasis is that with the second word He is giving us the idea of urgency.
  • If we follow this He will put us far above all the nations.
  • Blessings will overtake you, this implies that blessing will pursue us and over take us. Look at Ex. 15:26
  • All because we obey Yahweh our God.
  • You will be blessed in the city and in the country.
