Let’s read John 1:6-9, Pray!

I.  John came as a testimony about the light. V6-9

  A.  This is important and proves Yahweh follows His own Laws.

    1. Now remember, the Word was with Eloheem and the Word was Eloheem:

      a.  This word “Eloheem”. (Heb. found in Gen. 1:1 is in a plural form and we

find this same thing in Gen. 1:26)

      b.  The word “Eloheem” is the same. (But also adds the Let Us, In Our

image and likeness thus driving home this idea of Father, Son, and

            Holy Spirit)

      c.  This word is interesting. (It can also mean judges which would give the

           idea of establishing the truth)

     d.  Look at John 1:7. (John the Baptist came as a testimony and witness so

          all might believe)

      e.  Now, look at John 5:31-47. (This passage speaks specifically about

witnesses about Him and who is a witness)

1).  These witness and testify are related in the GK. (The word witness in the

GK is mar-too-reh-o and means to witness, testify, to bear record, to

                be well reported of)

2).  Testify. (GK is diamartyromai and is a verb means to testify, but the

dia prefix gives it more intensity as the message being given carries

as in to give a warning “slavation”)

3).  This comes from Deut. 19:15. (One witness cannot establish any wrong

doing or sin, you must have two or three witnesses)

4).  Look at who is Testifying here. (The Father, John, and Scripture gave

Testimony that established the truth as to who Yashua was and is

              John 5:32, 33, 39 and Luke 24:26-27)

5).  So John the Baptist. (Was a witness for Yashua sent into the world to

let the world know He was coming and in fact was here)

      f.  Let’s look closer at John being sent as a witness:

1).  Look at Mark 1:1-3. (This comes from Isa. 40:3-5 “A voice crying out

              the wilderness”)

2).  Look at Mal. 3:1. (Yahweh says He will send a messenger and he will

              clear the way)

3).  Now look at Mal. 4:5. (Elijah the prophet will be sent out before the

Great and Awesome Day of Yahweh)

4).  This book Mal. (Was written between 460 and 435 BC and the events

with Ahab and Elijah took place between 874 and 853 BC, so when

this was given in Mal. Elijah had long ago been taken up)

5).  Look again at Mal. 3:1. (There is a messenger sent to clear the way,

Yahweh is identified as the Messenger of the covenant that they had

sought showing the two John and Yashua)

6).  Now look at Matt. 11:7-15. (Yashua identifies John as Elijah who was

prophesied as the one who would come and make straight the path)

      g.  Now look how closely this is tied to the witnesses:

1).  The reason for John coming. (So we would listen to the witnesses and

we would believe the witnesses as to the Light)

2).  Now remember, His life is the light of man. (GK is phos and it man to

illuminate or to make manifest, but is made up of two RT words)

2).  The first is fah-ee-no. (This word means to lighten and to show)

3).  The second is fay-mee. (It means to show or to make known ones

thoughts and can mean to speak or to say)

4).  So to make known the light. (Is to make known the thoughts, or the

truth about the Messiah so we will be able to believe)

5).  Look at Mal. 4:6. (It was prophesied that Elijah would turn the hearts

of fathers to their children and vise versa, he had the ministry of

              reconciliation)

6).  Look at Luke 1:16-17. (It is the same ministry of Elijah that was given

              to John the Baptist)

7).  Look at Matt. 3:1-2. (John’s message was to “Repent because the

Kingdom of Yahweh is at hand, so reconciliation has to do with

              repentance)

a).  The word “repent”. (GK is met-an-o-eh-o and means to think

                 differently, or to reconsider)

b).  It is made up of two words. (GK met-ah which means to transfer)

c).  The second is. (GK is noy-eh-o and means to exercise the mind, so

put together it means to exercise your mind in a such a way you

                 change the way you think)

d).  Repent in the Hebrew. (Hebrew has three words for repent, the 1st is

naham and it has two meanings, to console or comfort, or to change

              ones mind)

e).  The second is ana. (It means and can denote a humbling of ones self)

f).  The third is sub (shoob). (And it means to turn, or to turn back and is

used as a verb for the act of turning back to truth)

g).  Look at 1 Kings 18:15-19. (Ahab had turned the hearts of Israel away

from the commands of Yahweh and Elijah was to turn the hearts of

              Israel back to Yahweh)

1).  Look at 1 Kings 16:29-33. (Ahab married Jezebel and they bring Baal

                worship to Israel)

2).  Look also 1 Kings 19:1-2. (Jezebel makes a promises to kill Elijah)

3).  Look at Mark 6:14-25. (Specifically at V19-20 Herodias wants John

                the Baptist died)

      h.  So we can see the first 5 verses are about Yashua’s identity as Yahweh and

verse 6-9 are about Yashua’s identity as Messiah.
